Description

This comforting one-pan meal brings together the warmth of fall flavors in under thirty minutes. Thin-cut pork chops are quickly seared, then braised in a fragrant mixture of apple juice, allspice, and caramelized onions. The natural sweetness of the canned sweet potatoes complements the savory pork, creating a harmonious balance of textures and tastes. It’s an ideal weeknight dinner for busy families or a cozy, low-effort meal after a long day. Ingredients

Directions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and cook briefly until lightly browned on both sides.
  2. Pour in the apple juice and top with the sliced onions. Cover the skillet and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook for 5 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the flour, allspice, and salt. Stir this mixture into the remaining 1/4 cup of apple juice until smooth.
  4. Stir the thickened apple juice mixture into the liquid in the pan. Arrange the sweet potatoes around and over the pork chops.
  5. Spoon the sauce over the potatoes. Cover and cook for about 10 minutes longer, or until the potatoes are hot and the pork chops are cooked through.

Note

You can substitute fresh sweet potatoes cut into chunks if preferred, but they will require a longer cooking time.

For a richer flavor, add a tablespoon of butter to the skillet before adding the onions.

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
