Rice Recipe
Description
This quick and flavorful dish transforms simple rice into a comforting side with a boost of umami. By mixing white miso paste with a little water, you create a silky, savory sauce that coats every grain perfectly. The addition of fresh chopped basil provides a bright, aromatic contrast to the deep, salty notes of the miso, while crisp green onions add a necessary crunch. It is an ideal accompaniment to grilled vegetables, tofu, or simple protein dishes. This recipe comes together in minutes, making it perfect for weeknight dinners when you need something satisfying but low-effort. The earthy tones of the miso pair beautifully with the herbal freshness, creating a balanced flavor profile that is both light and deeply satisfying.Ingredients

Note
For best results, use freshly cooked warm rice so the miso sauce absorbs better.
White miso (shiro miso) is recommended for its milder, sweeter flavor, but red miso can be used for a stronger taste.
If the rice has cooled, microwave it for 30-60 seconds before mixing with the miso sauce.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently in the microwave with a splash of water to restore moisture.
Variations: Add a pinch of sugar for sweetness or a dash of rice vinegar for acidity. You can also mix in toasted sesame seeds for extra crunch.
