Directions
-
Sift flour and salt into a bowl.
-
Add oil and warm water, mixing thoroughly until ingredients combine. Add a little more water if necessary.
-
Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it becomes elastic.
-
Cover the dough with plastic wrap and set aside while preparing the filling.
-
Heat oil in a saucepan and fry garlic, ginger, and half of the chopped onion until the onion is soft.
-
Add curry powder, salt, and vinegar (or lemon juice), mixing well.
-
Add minced steak and fry over high heat, stirring constantly until the meat changes color.
-
Turn the heat down and add hot water.
-
Cover the pan and cook until the meat is tender and all liquid has been absorbed, stirring frequently towards the end to prevent sticking.
-
Sprinkle with garam masala and chopped mint or coriander. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
-
Mix in the reserved chopped onion.
-
Take small pieces of dough, shape into balls, and roll each one thinly into a circle the size of a saucer on a lightly floured board.
-
Cut each circle in half to create two half-circles.
-
Place a teaspoon of filling on one side of each half-circle and brush the edges with water.
-
Fold the dough over the filling to form a triangle and press the edges together firmly to seal.
-
Heat oil in a deep pan and deep fry the samoosas a few at a time until golden brown on both sides.
-
Drain on absorbent paper and serve hot.
