  1. Salt to taste Fry sausage in oil until slightly browned. Add green onions. Cook 1 minute longer. Add liquid from string beans, thyme, salt and parsley. Cook until sausage is very tender. Add green beans and cook 5 minutes longer. Fresh green beans may be used if desired. Boil beans until tender. Use water from boiled beans and prepare as for canned beans
