  1. cut in serving pieces Salt and pepper 1 cn Sauerkraut (small) 1/2 sm Cabbage, thinly sliced 1 lg Onion, thinly sliced 1 Apple, quartered, cored and -sliced 1 ts Caraway seeds or 1 ts Dill 1 c Water 1 ts Salt
  2. Sprinkle spareribs with salt and pepper.
  3. Brown ribs for 30 minutes in a heavy skillet or broiler pan.
  4. Put alternate layers of spare ribs, sauerkraut, cabbage, onion and apple in crock pot.
  5. Add caraway seeds or dill to water and pour over all.
  6. Cover and set to low for 6-8 hours.
  7. (High 4-5 hours).
  8. Stir several times during cooking when using high only.
