Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, Parmesan cheese, oregano, lemon juice, teriyaki sauce, and garlic salt. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  2. Divide the meat mixture in half. Shape each half into a ball, then pat each ball onto a piece of waxed paper to form a flat circle about 8 inches in diameter.
  3. Spread the tomato paste in the center of one of the meat circles, leaving a border around the edge.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the tomato paste, then add the chopped mushrooms on top of the cheese.
  5. Place the second circle of meat on top of the filling. Carefully seal the edges of the two meat circles together to enclose the stuffing completely. Ensure there are no gaps where the filling could escape.
  6. Preheat an outdoor grill to medium heat. Oil the grill grates lightly to prevent sticking.
  7. Place the stuffed burger on the grill rack. Cook for 30 to 35 minutes, turning once with a wide spatula halfway through the cooking time.
  8. Continue grilling until the meat is cooked to your desired doneness (medium to well done) and no pink remains. An internal temperature of 160F (71C) is recommended for ground meat.
  9. Remove the burger from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes. Cut into wedges and serve immediately.
