Note
For a sweeter dip, you can substitute the applesauce with a pinch of sugar or a little honey (not vegan).
If you don't have tahini, sunflower seed butter is a suitable alternative.
This dip is best served immediately but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Note that the avocado may darken slightly; a thin layer of oil on top can help prevent oxidation.
Use silken or soft tofu for the smoothest texture. Firm tofu may result in a grainier dip unless blended very thoroughly.
Serve with fresh vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, or bell peppers, or use as a spread on sandwiches and wraps.
