Description

This Tropical Compote is a refreshing celebration of summer flavors, perfect for lightening up any meal. The combination of creamy avocado, sweet papaya, tart kiwi, and ripe banana creates a delightful texture contrast that is both lush and satisfying. The star of the show is the homemade Honey Lime Dressing, which adds a bright, zesty kick that cuts through the natural sweetness of the fruit. Finished with toasted coconut flakes, this dish offers a perfect balance of creaminess, crunch, and citrus zest. It serves beautifully as a unique side dish for grilled fish or chicken, or as a standalone healthy dessert. Ideal for warm evenings, potlucks, or when you need a quick, no-cook treat that feels indulgent yet wholesome. The vibrant colors make it as visually appealing as it is delicious.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the plain yogurt, honey, lime juice, and grated lime peel. Stir vigorously until the mixture is smooth and well-blended.
  2. In a large serving bowl, gently combine the cubed avocados, sliced kiwis, sliced banana, and sliced papaya.
  3. Pour the Honey Lime Dressing over the fruit mixture. Toss gently to coat all the fruit evenly without mashing the avocado or banana.
  4. Sprinkle the toasted coconut flakes over the top of the compote.
  5. Serve immediately to enjoy the best texture and flavor.

Note

To toast the coconut, spread it on a dry skillet over medium-low heat and stir frequently until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes. Watch closely as it burns easily.

For a vegan version, substitute the plain yogurt with coconut yogurt or a plant-based alternative.

This compote is best served fresh. If preparing ahead, keep the dressing and coconut separate until just before serving to prevent the fruit from becoming soggy.

You can add other tropical fruits like mango or pineapple for extra variety.
