  1. Preheat oven to 350F (175C).
  2. Place 2 tablespoons of butter in a 1-quart casserole dish and melt in the preheated oven.
  3. Tilt the dish to coat the sides and bottom with melted butter, then stir in the frozen hash browns.
  4. Sprinkle hash browns with 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon pepper, then bake for 15 minutes.
  5. While potatoes bake, brown sliced almonds in 1 tablespoon of butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  6. Remove half of the toasted almonds and set aside for garnish.
  7. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the saucepan with the remaining almonds.
  8. Melt the butter, then stir in flour to create a smooth roux.
  9. Gradually add milk, cooking and stirring frequently until the mixture boils and thickens.
  10. Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese, lemon juice, season salt, hot sauce, and paprika until blended.
  11. Layer the drained tuna over the baked hash browns in the casserole dish.
  12. Pour the cheese sauce over the tuna, then sprinkle with the reserved toasted almonds.
  13. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until heated through and bubbly.
