This Tuxedo Cheesecake is a sophisticated twist on the classic New York style, featuring a rich, dense cream cheese filling swirled with semi-sweet chocolate for a striking black-and-white appearance. Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325&# 194;°F (165°C). Wrap the outside of a 9-inch springform pan with heavy-duty aluminum foil to prevent water leakage if using a water bath.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the crushed Oreos and melted butter until the mixture resembles wet sand. Press firmly into the bottom and slightly up the sides of the springform pan. Bake for 10 minutes, then let cool while preparing the filling.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until completely smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides of the bowl frequently.
  4. Add the sugar and cornstarch to the cream cheese and beat on medium speed until well combined and fluffy.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, beating on low speed just until incorporated after each addition. Do not overmix.
  6. Stir in the sour cream, vanilla extract, orange liqueur (if using), and grated orange peel (if using) until smooth.
  7. Fold in the heavy cream gently until combined.
  8. Pour about two-thirds of the batter into the prepared crust. Drizzle half of the melted chocolate over the batter. Repeat with the remaining batter and chocolate.
  9. Use a knife to swirl the chocolate through the batter to create a marbled "tuxedo" effect.
  10. Place the springform pan in a larger roasting pan and fill the roasting pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the cheesecake pan.
  11. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center still jiggles slightly when shaken.
  12. Turn off the oven and crack the door open. Let the cheesecake cool in the oven for 1 hour to prevent cracking.
  13. Remove from the oven and run a knife around the edge to loosen. Cool completely on a wire rack, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.

Note

To prevent cracking, ensure the cream cheese and eggs are at room temperature before mixing. Avoid overmixing the batter, as incorporating too much air can cause the cheesecake to rise and fall, leading to cracks.

If you do not have a water bath, you can place a pan of hot water on the rack below the cheesecake to create steam, which helps keep the crust from burning and the top moist.

The orange liqueur and zest add a bright citrus note that cuts through the richness of the chocolate and cream cheese. If you prefer an alcohol-free version, substitute the liqueur with orange juice and increase the zest slightly.

Store leftover cheesecake in the refrigerator, covered tightly with plastic wrap or in an airtight container, for up to 5 days. For longer storage, freeze the cheesecake (whole or sliced) for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
