Ingredients

Directions

  1. Cover a baking sheet or tray with waxed paper or parchment paper.
  2. Place the vanilla milk chips and 1 tablespoon of shortening in a medium microwave-safe bowl.
  3. Microwave on high for 1 minute, then stir vigorously until the chips are melted and the mixture is smooth.
  4. If necessary, microwave in additional 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until completely smooth.
  5. Holding a strawberry by the stem/top, dip the lower two-thirds of the berry into the vanilla mixture.
  6. Gently shake off any excess coating and place the strawberry on the prepared tray.
  7. Repeat with all strawberries, then refrigerate the tray until the vanilla coating is firm, at least 30 minutes.
  8. In a clean microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and the remaining 1 tablespoon of shortening.
  9. Microwave the chocolate mixture on high for 1 minute, stirring until smooth; continue in 30-second intervals if needed.
  10. Remove the chilled strawberries from the refrigerator.
  11. Dip the remaining top third of each strawberry into the semi-sweet chocolate mixture.
  12. Place back on the tray and refrigerate until the chocolate coating is firm.
