  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, sour cream, milk, butter, corn syrup, and salt.
  2. Cook over medium
  3. heat to 238 degrees (240 if weather is damp) this is softball stage, about 9-10 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let stand 1 hour or until lukewarm - 110 degrees.
  5. Add vanilla and beat until it begins to lose it's gloss and holds it's shape.
  6. This requires very little beating.
  7. quicky stir in nuts and candied cherries.
  8. Turn into buttered 9X9 pan
