Description

These Yummy Pecan Rolls are the ultimate comfort food, combining a tender, slightly sweet dough with a rich, gooey pecan syrup base. The rolls are brushed with butter, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, and rolled into tight spirals before resting in a pool of warm maple-pecan goodness. As they bake, the syrup soaks into the bread, creating a moist, indulgent treat that is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a sweet dessert. The combination of buttery pecans, maple syrup, and cinnamon creates a warm, nostalgic flavor profile that brings everyone to the table.

Directions

  1. Scald the milk, then stir in the sugar, salt, and butter until dissolved.
  2. Allow the milk mixture to cool until lukewarm.
  3. Pour the warm water into a large bowl or stand mixer bowl.
  4. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and stir until dissolved.
  5. Add the lukewarm milk mixture, eggs, and 5 cups of the flour to the yeast mixture.
  6. Mix with dough hooks or by hand until well blended, about 3 minutes.
  7. Add the remaining flour, one tablespoon at a time, as needed to form a soft dough.
  8. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes by hand or 5-7 minutes with a hook.
  9. Place dough in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top.
  10. Cover and let rise in a warm place, free from drafts, until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  11. Meanwhile, combine brown sugar, maple syrup, and softened butter in a saucepan.
  12. Heat the syrup mixture over medium heat until sugar is dissolved, then bring to a rolling boil for 1 minute.
  13. Pour the hot syrup into two 11x7-inch baking pans.
  14. Sprinkle chopped pecans evenly over the syrup in the pans.
  15. Punch down the risen dough and divide it in half on a lightly floured surface.
  16. Roll each half into a 12x9-inch rectangle.
  17. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  18. Brush each dough rectangle with the remaining softened butter.
  19. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
  20. Roll up each rectangle tightly, jelly-roll style, beginning with the long side.
  21. Pinch the ends to seal.
  22. Cut each roll into 12 slices, approximately 1 inch thick.
  23. Place the slices cut-side down into the pans over the pecan-syrup mixture.
  24. Cover the pans and allow to rise in a warm place until almost doubled, about 30 minutes.
  25. Bake in a preheated 375°F (191°C) oven for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  26. Let cool for 5 minutes, then turn out onto large platters.
