  1. Thaw fish fillets if frozen, then remove bones and skin and cut into 1-inch pieces.
  2. Cut bacon into 1/2-inch pieces.
  3. In a large saucepan over moderate heat, fry bacon until crisp, turning frequently.
  4. Add chopped onion to the bacon fat and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender and translucent.
  5. Cut canned tomatoes into bite-sized pieces.
  6. Add tomatoes, tomato liquid, diced carrot, diced potato, celery, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, thyme, marjoram, and boiling water to the saucepan.
  7. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 45 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  8. Add the fish pieces to the pot, cover, and simmer for another 10 to 12 minutes, until fish flakes easily with a fork.
