Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven according to the package instructions for the frozen puff pastry shells.
  2. Bake the puff pastry shells on a baking sheet until golden brown and puffed, following package directions.
  3. While the shells bake, soften the cream cheese at room temperature.
  4. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, confectioners' sugar, and almond extract until smooth and creamy.
  5. Once baked, remove the shells from the oven and let them cool slightly.
  6. Using a fork, carefully lift and remove the circular top lid from each baked pastry shell.
  7. Set the pastry lids aside on a plate for later use.
  8. Gently scoop out any loose or soft pastry crumbs from inside the shells and discard them to create a clean vessel.
  9. Divide the cream cheese filling evenly among the hollowed-out pastry shells.
  10. Return the filled shells to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes to set the filling.
  11. Remove from the oven and allow the tarts to cool completely to room temperature.
  12. Just before serving, spoon cherry pie filling into the center of each tart, on top of the cheesecake layer.
  13. Place the reserved pastry circle lids back on top of each tart.
  14. Dust the tops lightly with additional confectioners' sugar using a fine-mesh sieve.
  15. Serve immediately and enjoy the flaky, creamy, and fruity combination.
