Ingredients

Directions

  1. Fill the bottom chamber of the stovetop coffee maker with cold water up to the designated fill line.
  2. Ensure the water level does not cover the safety valve hole located on the side of the bottom chamber.
  3. Fill the brew basket with finely ground coffee, leveling it off at the rim without tamping down.
  4. If brewing 9 cups, remove the reducer from the brew basket and fill the entire basket.
  5. For 3 or 6 cups, insert the reducer with the long stem facing down for 3 cups or short stem for 6 cups.
  6. Wipe any excess coffee grounds from the rim of the brew basket and the rubber sealing ring.
  7. Assemble the coffee maker by twisting the top chamber onto the bottom chamber until tightly sealed.
  8. Ensure the steam valve on the top chamber is closed before heating.
  9. Place the assembled coffee maker on a stovetop burner set to high heat.
  10. Position a carafe or heatproof container under the coffee outlet valve to catch the brew.
  11. Allow the coffee to brew; it will initially drip slowly and appear very dark.
  12. Wait for the stream to become strong and steady, with the coffee color lightening to a rich brown.
  13. When the coffee flow stops and a gurgling noise begins, immediately close the coffee valve and remove the carafe from heat.
  14. To make a cappuccino, keep the valve closed to allow steam pressure to build in the chamber.
  15. Pour milk or cream into a serving cup and carefully open the steam valve to froth the milk directly.
