  1. Remove rind from bacon and finely chop both the bacon and one small onion.
  2. Melt 3 teaspoons of butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped bacon and onion to the pan, cooking until the bacon is golden and the onion is soft.
  4. Stir in 3 teaspoons of plain flour, mixing well to coat the bacon and onions.
  5. Gradually add 8 fl oz of lager, stirring frequently to prevent lumps, and cook until the mixture thickens.
