Directions
-
Trim the top round steak and cut it into 1/4-inch cubes.
-
In a large saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat until hot.
-
Add the beef in batches and brown on all sides. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside. Repeat until all beef is browned, adding more oil as needed.
-
Return all the browned beef to the saucepan.
-
Add 4 cups of water, tomato paste, instant minced onion, celery salt, chili powder, cumin, coriander, ginger, marjoram, oregano, paprika, thyme, sage, allspice, red pepper, cinnamon, curry powder, and garlic powder. Mix well to combine.
-
Add the drained, seeded, and chopped whole green chiles.
-
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 90 minutes, stirring occasionally.
-
Add the remaining water and mix in the broken milk chocolate pieces.
-
Continue to simmer, covered, for an additional 30 minutes, stirring often, until the chili is thick and the chocolate has melted completely.
