Note

This recipe combines four distinct components: a creamy potato dish, a stuffed beef roll, a spicy cabbage stir-fry, and a herring salad. Prepare each component separately and assemble on individual plates or a large serving platter.

For the beef rolls, ensure the steak slices are thin enough to roll without tearing. Use toothpicks to secure the rolls if necessary during cooking.

The "Bavarian Potatoes" sauce relies on a roux; whisk constantly when adding water to prevent lumps.

The Oriental Cabbage dish benefits from fresh curry powder. Add it towards the end of cooking to preserve its aromatic qualities.

Serve the beef rolls hot, garnished with olives and parsley. The cabbage should be served very hot on a border of boiled rice.

The herring salad is a cold accompaniment. Ensure the herring is well-drained after soaking in milk to remove excess moisture before mixing with vinaigrette.

Leftovers of the beef rolls and cabbage can be stored in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently to maintain tenderness.
