Description

These homemade potstickers offer a delightful contrast of textures, featuring a tender, steamed top and a beautifully crispy, fried bottom. The filling combines fresh Napa cabbage with aromatic ginger, garlic, and cilantro, creating a light yet deeply flavorful bite. Perfect for appetizers, lunches, or a quick dinner, they are easier to make than you might think. The use of wonton wrappers makes assembly quick, while the simple frying technique ensures every piece is golden and crunchy. Serve them warm with ponzu or soy sauce for dipping. They are a crowd-pleaser that brings restaurant-quality taste to your home kitchen without the hassle.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Place the shredded Napa cabbage in a large bowl and toss with 1/4 teaspoon salt. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes to release excess water.
  2. Squeeze the cabbage firmly to remove as much liquid as possible, then return it to the bowl.
  3. Add the chopped cilantro, ginger, garlic, scallions, and toasted sesame oil to the cabbage. Mix well to combine.
  4. Place one wonton wrapper on a flat surface. Spoon about 1/2 ounce of the cabbage mixture into the center of the wrapper.
  5. Moisten a finger with water and rub it along the edges of the wrapper to create a seal.
  6. Fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle, pressing the edges firmly to seal out air.
  7. Repeat the process with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  8. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  9. Place the potstickers in the hot oil in a single layer. Cook for 2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Remove from heat and serve immediately with ponzu sauce for dipping.

Note

If the cabbage mixture feels too wet after squeezing, you can add a little more sesame oil or garlic to balance the flavor and texture.

To prevent the wrappers from drying out while assembling, keep them covered with a damp cloth.

For a softer texture, you can steam the potstickers for 3 minutes before frying them in oil for crispiness.

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet with a little oil to restore crispiness.
