Directions
-
Wash the grapes thoroughly and place the bunches into a large heavy-bottomed pot.
-
Cover the grapes with a small amount of water, just enough to prevent sticking.
-
Simmer gently over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the grapes are soft and burst, about 20 minutes.
-
Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or a nylon muslin bag into a clean bowl to extract the clear juice. Do not press.
-
Measure the extracted grape juice. For every 1 pint (2 cups) of juice, measure out 1 pound of sugar.
-
Return the measured juice to the pot and bring it to a rolling boil.
-
Add the sugar to the boiling juice and stir until completely dissolved.
-
Boil rapidly without stirring until the mixture reaches the setting point (220&# 194;°F or 104ðC).
-
Ladle the hot jelly immediately into sterilized jars.
-
Seal the jars tightly and allow them to cool completely at room temperature.
