Description

These Hamburger Pastries are a delightful twist on classic comfort food, combining tender, seasoned ground beef with onions and melted cheese, all wrapped in a golden, flaky crust. The addition of canned vegetables adds a subtle sweetness and texture, while ketchup and mustard provide a tangy depth to the savory filling. Perfect for family dinners, potlucks, or a hearty lunch, these hand pies offer a satisfying crunch that gives way to a warm, juicy interior. They are easy to assemble and bake, making them an ideal choice for weeknight meals when you want something special without the fuss. Serve them warm, optionally topped with a little extra gravy or sauce for extra richness.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (191&# 194;°C).
  2. Drain the canned vegetables thoroughly and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and the onions are soft.
  4. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the drained vegetables, ketchup, mustard, pepper, garlic salt, and shredded cheese. Mix well and set aside to cool slightly.
  6. Prepare the pie crust according to the package directions.
  7. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions.
  8. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion into a 7-inch circle.
  9. Place about 1/4 cup of the meat mixture onto one half of each circle, keeping it within 1/2 inch of the edge.
  10. Moisten the edges of the pastry with water, then fold the other half over the filling to create a semi-circle.
  11. Press the edges firmly with a fork to seal.
  12. Place the pastries on an ungreased baking sheet.
  13. Prick the top of each pastry a few times with a fork to allow steam to escape.
  14. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and flaky.
