Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375F (190C).
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook lasagne noodles until al dente according to package directions. Drain and rinse briefly to prevent sticking; lay flat on wax paper.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into small crumbles with a spoon. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Add finely chopped onion and garlic to the beef. Saut until onions are translucent and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in tomato puree, mixed Italian seasoning, oregano, thyme, Spanish paprika, salt, and Tabasco sauce. Simmer the sauce for 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  6. In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese and egg. Mix until smooth.
  7. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  8. Layer 3 noodles over the sauce, overlapping slightly. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, then top with half of the remaining meat sauce.
  9. Repeat the layers: 3 noodles, remaining ricotta, and remaining meat sauce. Top with the final layer of 3 noodles.
  10. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil. Bake for 25 minutes.
  11. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the sauce is bubbly and the edges are golden.
  12. Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing to allow layers to set.
