Directions
-
Preheat oven to 350F (175C). Spray a 9- or 10-inch springform pan with nonstick cooking spray.
-
In a small saucepan, combine the low-fat sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
-
In a large bowl, place 2 1/2 cups of the devil's food cake mix. Add the pureed pears (blended until smooth in a food processor or blender) and 2 eggs. Beat at low speed until just moistened, then beat at medium speed for 2 minutes.
-
Spread the pear-chocolate batter evenly into the prepared springform pan.
-
Drop spoonfuls of the melted chocolate-condensed milk mixture over the batter in the pan.
-
In a small bowl, stir the chopped macadamia nuts (or pecans) and 2 teaspoons of water into the remaining cake mix to form a crumbly topping.
-
Sprinkle the nut-cake crumb mixture evenly over the filling and batter.
-
Bake at 350F (175C) for 45-50 minutes, or until the top springs back when touched lightly in the center.
-
Cool the torte in the pan for 10 minutes. Remove the sides of the springform pan. Cool completely on a wire rack for about 1 1/2 hours.
-
In a small saucepan, combine the butterscotch caramel fudge topping and milk. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 3-4 minutes or until well blended and warm.
-
To serve, spoon 2 tablespoons of the warm butterscotch sauce onto each serving plate. Top with a wedge of the torte. Garnish with chocolate curls if desired. Serve with vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt.

Note
For best results, ensure the pears are fully blended until smooth before mixing into the cake batter.
If you do not have a springform pan, you can use a regular 9-inch round cake pan, but be careful when removing the cooled torte.
Pecans can be substituted for macadamia nuts if preferred, offering a slightly different texture and flavor profile.
The butterscotch sauce can be made ahead and reheated gently before serving.
Store any leftover torte in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Bring to room temperature before serving for the best texture.
