Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Combine prunes and orange juice in a blender; blend until almost smooth, scraping down sides as needed.
  3. Stir chopped nuts into the prune mixture and set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, cream together margarine, brown sugar, and honey until smooth.
  5. Beat in the egg until well combined.
  6. Mix in flour, rolled oats, wheat germ, baking soda, and salt until a dough forms.
  7. Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  8. Press slightly less than half of the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  9. Spread the prune mixture evenly over the dough layer, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges.
  10. Crumble the remaining dough over the top to cover the prune filling.
  11. Gently pat down the top layer to secure it.
  12. Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until golden brown and springy to the touch.
  13. Cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into 1x2 inch bars.
