  1. Wash the fish and cut it into 2-3 cm squares.
  2. Sprinkle the fish pieces with salt and turmeric, then place them in a saucepan.
  3. Crush the garlic and ginger together using a pestle and mortar until a paste forms.
  4. Soak the tamarind in the warm water, then squeeze and strain to extract the juice, discarding the pulp.
  5. Pour 375 ml of water over the fish in the saucepan.
  6. Add the crushed garlic and ginger, tamarind juice, chili powder, paprika, cinnamon stick, black pepper, and curry leaves to the pan.
  7. Cover the pan and simmer over low heat until the fish is cooked through and opaque.
  8. Remove the cinnamon stick before serving and transfer the stew to a dish.
