You may use either nuts, or raisins or both as you like.

In an 8" square baking pan heat shortening over low heat until melted.

Stir in sugar.

Remove from heat and allow to cool.

In a small bowl break eggs; add vanilla; beat until blended.

Add to the sugar mixture in baking pan.

Place dry ingredients in a sifter.

Sift into baking pan.

Mix well with a fork.

Add nuts &/or fruit.

Smooth top.

Bake in a 350 degree F.

oven 30 minutes.
