Description

This luxurious Mocha Buttercream is the perfect finishing touch for chocolate cakes, cupcakes, or coffee-flavored desserts. The combination of instant coffee and high-quality butter creates a smooth, spreadable texture with a sophisticated cafe-au-lait flavor profile. It&# 226;€™s not overly sweet, allowing the rich coffee essence to shine through without overpowering your dessert. Ideal for birthday cakes, holiday treats, or any occasion where you want to elevate your baking with a professional touch. Made with simple pantry staples, this buttercream comes together quickly and delivers impressive results every time.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Dissolve the instant coffee powder in the 2 teaspoons of water and set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Ensure the unsalted butter is at room temperature for easy mixing.
  3. Place the softened butter, dissolved coffee mixture, confectioners sugar, and chilled heavy cream into the bowl of a food processor or stand mixer.
  4. Process or mix on low speed until the ingredients are just combined and no dry sugar remains.
  5. Increase the speed to medium-high and beat the mixture until it becomes light, fluffy, and pale in color.
  6. Stop the machine or mixer several times during the process to scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula to ensure even mixing.
  7. Continue beating for approximately 15 to 20 minutes total until the buttercream is very airy and smooth.
  8. Transfer the buttercream to a mixing bowl if using a food processor, and continue beating with an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment (or whisk) for another few minutes to achieve maximum fluffiness.
  9. Use the buttercream immediately for frosting cakes or cupcakes within an hour for best results.

Note

If the buttercream becomes too soft or warm, chill it in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes before using.

If you do not have a paddle attachment, a whisk attachment works well for whipping the buttercream.

This buttercream should be used within an hour of preparation. If it sits longer, it may need to be re-whipped to restore its airy texture.

For a darker chocolate flavor, you can add 1-2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder to the mix.

Store leftover buttercream in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Bring to room temperature and re-whip before using again.
