Description

This savory turkey loaf is a comforting, protein-rich dish that blends ground turkey with fresh sage, thyme, and marjoram for a robust herbal flavor. Soaked bread adds moisture and texture, while sauted shallots and celery provide a savory depth. Its a versatile centerpiece for holiday dinners, weeknight suppers, or meal prep. Serve warm with mashed potatoes or a side salad for a balanced, home-cooked meal. The loaf holds together beautifully and reheats well, making it ideal for leftovers.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F (175C).
  2. Cut bread into small cubes and place in a small bowl. Pour chicken broth over bread and set aside to soak for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a saut pan over medium heat.
  4. Add shallots and celery to the pan. Cook and stir for 3 minutes until softened.
  5. Add dried sage, fresh sage, thyme, marjoram, salt, black pepper, white pepper, and orange peel to the pan. Cook and stir for 1 minute until fragrant.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, combine the soaked bread mixture, sauted vegetable mixture, ground turkey, and egg whites. Mix well until evenly combined.
  7. Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan. Pack the turkey mixture into the pan, smoothing the top.
  8. Bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 165F (74C).
  9. Let the loaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
