Description

This luxurious seafood bake combines fresh shrimp, plump oysters, and tender crab meat in a rich, creamy white wine sauce. The dish is simmered with earthy mushrooms and sweet green peppers, then baked in a traditional clay cooker to meld the flavors beautifully. Topped with golden buttery bread crumbs, it offers a delightful contrast of textures. While often served as a hearty dinner, its comforting nature makes it perfect for a special weekend brunch or a celebratory family meal. The clay pot retains heat perfectly, keeping the seafood moist and the crust crisp until the last bite.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425&# 194;°F (220ðC).
  2. If using frozen shrimp, thaw and shell them. If using fresh, ensure they are cooked and shelled as per the original ingredient list context.
  3. Heat oysters in their own liquor in a skillet until the edges curl, then drain and set aside.
  4. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Add sliced mushrooms and chopped green pepper to the skillet; cook for 4-5 minutes until softened.
  6. In a separate saucepan, melt 3 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
  7. Whisk in 3 tablespoons of flour to form a roux, cooking for 1 minute.
  8. Gradually whisk in 2 cups of light cream (or 1 cup cream and 1 cup dry white wine) until smooth.
  9. Season the sauce with salt, pepper, and minced parsley; simmer for a few minutes until thickened.
  10. Stir in the cooked mushrooms, green peppers, chopped pimiento, sherry, shrimp, oysters, and crab meat.
  11. Soak the lid of the clay cooker in water before assembling the dish.
  12. Pour the seafood mixture into the clay cooker.
  13. Top with bread crumbs and dot with the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter.
  14. Cover with the soaked lid and place the clay cooker into the preheated oven.
  15. Bake for 30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the seafood is heated through.
