Description

This Shrimp Parmesan is a comforting twist on the classic chicken dish, featuring plump shrimp nestled in a savory marinara sauce and topped with melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. The dish balances the sweetness of fresh tomatoes with the sharpness of garlic and onion powders, creating a robust flavor profile that appeals to seafood lovers. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a casual family gathering, it offers a satisfying texture with crispy cheese edges and soft, juicy shrimp. While the recipe includes instructions for making a homemade marinara sauce for deeper flavor, you can easily use a high-quality store-bought sauce for a quicker meal. Serve it over pasta, crusty bread, or with a side salad for a complete Italian-inspired feast.

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. If making homemade marinara sauce, sauté finely chopped onions and crushed garlic cloves in a pot until soft.
  3. Add peeled and diced tomatoes to the pot and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in crushed canned tomatoes, water, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried basil.
  5. Simmer the sauce on low heat for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Add a pinch of sugar if the tomatoes are not sweet enough.
  6. Remove from heat, stir in chopped parsley, and adjust seasoning to taste.
  7. Arrange the cleaned large shrimp in a single layer in a large baking dish.
  8. Melt the margarine in a small saucepan or microwave.
  9. Pour the melted margarine evenly over the shrimp.
  10. Spread the grated mozzarella cheese evenly over the shrimp.
  11. Sprinkle with the remaining garlic powder, onion powder, and grated Parmesan cheese.
  12. Spoon the prepared marinara sauce over the cheese and shrimp, covering them completely.
  13. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the shrimp are cooked through and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
