This German dessert features All-purpose flour, Baking soda, Eggs, Powdered sugar; sifted, Oil; drops. It delivers sweet, indulgent flavor.   1. Sift together flour and soda.
  2. In large mixer bowl, beat eggs with electric mixer until light.
  3. beat in powdered sugar; continue beating on high speed about 15 minutes or until mixture resembles soft meringue.
  4. Stir in anise oil.
  5. Add about 3/4 of the flour mixture and beat on low speed until combined.
  6. By hand, stir in the remaining flour mixture.
  7. Cover; let stand about 15 minutes.
  8. Divide dough into thirds.
  9. On lightly floured surface, roll each portion into 8" square.
  10. Let stand for 1 minute.
  11. Dust a springerle (little horse) mold or rolling pin with additional flour.

  21. Place on prepared cookie sheet.
  22. Bake in 300 degree oven about 18 minutes or until a light straw color.
  23. Remove to wire rack; cool
