Description

These Strawberry Nut Drops are tender, melt-in-your-mouth cookies that balance bright strawberry sweetness with the deep aroma of almond extract and the crunch of toasted walnuts. The mashed berries fold into a rich, buttery dough, creating a moist crumb that pairs perfectly with a light, tangy strawberry glaze. Ideal for tea time, holiday cookie platters, or casual after-dinner treats, these drops come together quickly with pantry staples. They&# 226;ÂÂre easy to scale for gatherings and freeze well for make-ahead convenience.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Mash the strawberries until smooth; reserve 2 tablespoons of the mashed berries with their juice for the glaze.
  2. Cream the sugar, butter, and almond extract together until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg until fully incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the remaining mashed strawberries, mixing until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chopped walnuts.
  7. Drop tablespoons of dough onto lightly greased or parchment-lined cookie sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake in a 375ðF (191ðC) oven for 12âÂÂ14 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. While the cookies bake, mix the reserved 2 tablespoons of strawberry juice with the confectioner's sugar to form a thin, spreadable glaze.
  10. Spread the glaze over the warm or cooled cookies.

Note

Strawberries: Use fresh or frozen strawberries. If using frozen, thaw and drain excess liquid before mashing to keep the dough from becoming too wet.

Nuts: For a deeper flavor, toast the walnuts in a 350ðF oven for 5âÂÂ7 minutes before chopping.

Glaze Consistency: Adjust the glaze thickness by adding more confectioner's sugar for a thicker coat or a few drops of milk or water for a thinner drizzle.

Storage: Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze unbaked dough portions or baked cookies for up to 2 months.
