Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Place the pork spareribs in a large non-aluminum baking pan.
  3. Roast the ribs for 30 minutes, turning once halfway through to render excess fat.
  4. Drain off and discard the fat from the pan.
  5. Turn the oven off.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the orange juice, lemon juice, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, horseradish, and hot pepper sauce until smooth.
  7. Pour the sauce mixture over the ribs in the pan.
  8. Cover the pan loosely with foil and let the ribs stand at room temperature for 1 hour to marinate.
  9. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).
  10. Uncover the ribs and bake for 1 hour, basting frequently with the sauce from the pan, until the ribs are tender and the glaze is browned.

Note

For best results, remove the membrane from the back of the ribs before cooking to allow the smoke and flavors to penetrate the meat.

If you prefer a sweeter sauce, increase the brown sugar to 1/2 cup. For extra heat, add an additional 1/4 teaspoon of hot pepper sauce.

Leftover ribs can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the oven or microwave with a splash of water to prevent drying out.
