Description

This International bread features All purpose flour, Packed golden brown sugar, Baking powder, Ground cinnamon. It delivers sweet, indulgent flavor. Wonderful fresh from the oven, pairs well with any meal. Simple to make with ingredients you likely already have on hand, this is a recipe you will come back to again and again.

Ingredients

  1. Pinch of salt 14 tb (1 3/4 sticks) chilled -unsalted butter,
  2. cut into -pieces 2 lg Eggs 1/2 c Chopped candied orange
  3. peel 1/3 c Dried currants 1/3 c Golden raisins 1/4 c Milk 1 Egg, beaten to
  4. blend (glaze) 20 Candied cherries, halved Slivered almonds
  5. Preheat oven to 400'F.
  6. Grease 2 large baking sheets.
  7. Mix first 5 ingredients in large bowl.
  8. Add butter; rub with fingertips until mixture resembles coarse meal,
  9. Add 2 eggs, candied
  10. peel , currants, raisins and milk;
  11. stir to
  12. form soft dough.
  13. Divide dough into 20 pieces, each measuring a scant 1/4 C.
  14. Shape each into ball.
  15. Arrange on prepared baking sheets.
  16. Flatten tops slightly.
  17. Brush tops with egg glaze.
  18. Decorate each with 2 candied cherry halves for eyes and several slivered almonds for smile.
  19. Bake until golden, about 15 minutes.
  20. Serve warm or at room temperature.
