  4. Hull and slice the fresh strawberries into bite-sized pieces.
  5. Peel and cut the fresh rhubarb into 1-inch pieces.
  6. In a large bowl, toss the strawberries and rhubarb together.
  7. Place half of the fruit mixture into the pastry-lined pie plate.
  8. Sprinkle half of the sugar-flour mixture over the fruit layer.
  9. Add the remaining fruit mixture on top.
  10. Sprinkle the remaining sugar-flour mixture over the top layer of fruit.
  11. Dot the top with 2 tablespoons of butter or margarine.
  12. Roll out the second circle of dough and place it over the filling.
  13. Trim the excess dough, seal the edges, and flute the rim.
  14. Cut several steam vents in the top crust to allow moisture to escape.
  15. Brush the top of the pie with cold water and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of sugar.
  16. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the rhubarb is tender.
  17. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
